Moving Picture is happy to begin carrying ARRI's newest HMI to hit the market: the AS18/12/M18, which is being called the "brightest HMI you can plug into the wall."
The AS18 Lamphead (ARRISUN 1800w Par HMI) boasts a very compact design, the same size as the AS12, but with 70% higher output. Combined with the ARRI EB1200/1800 ballast, the AS18 can operate plugged into a standard household 20A circuit.
The AS18 system utilizes a smooth par reflector and
lenses, as well as spot/flood settings to achieve the desired beam of light. Plus, with the exact same lamphead and ballast, the AS18 can be fitted with a 1200w lamp and effectively become an AS12.
An even more remarkable aspect of the new AS18 is the fact that it can be quickly re-fitted to become the ARRI M18. Used without lenses, the M18 uses an ARRIMAX reflector
to create a wide beam angle of 20-60 degrees and a more crisp shadow.
